The San Diego
Downtown Breakfast Rotary
Club meets every Wednesday
at 7:00 am to 8:30 am in
the beautiful University
Club. Originally founded
in 1896, the University Club
Atop Symphony Towers is located
at 750 B Street. From its
perch on the 34th floor,
the University Club provides
Rotary members and guests
with some of the most spectacular
views of downtown San Diego.
Breakfast is
prepared by the University
Club's award-winning kitchen
staff, and is usually available
shortly after 7am. This gives
members and their guests
the opportunity to mingle
before the club session begins.
Members of the
Club are billed quarterly
for their breakfasts. Guests
accompanying members receive
complimentary admission on
their first visit. It's just
our way of saying hello,
and thank you for coming
to the club. Guests and visiting Rotarians
pay only $18.00 at the door.
At the historic
University Club, a dress
code is observed. Befitting
a professional organization,
professional attire is required
(although business casual
works, too). As comfortable
as they might be, please
leave your tennis shoes,
T-shirts, and jeans at home.
The President
of the Club calls the
meeting to order, followed
by an invocation and
the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Club's songmeisters then
kick into gear, leading the
Club in song (rest assured,
it's a lot of fun).
Once the howls
have stopped, guests and visiting Rotarians are introduced, and the President
announces upcoming
Club events, honorable mentions,
and Rotary news. The Club
often takes this opportunity
to recognize community
service groups and activities. The Sergeant-At-Arms
will open up the floor to
recognition of members for
accomplishments. Various
members also
report on progress they're
making in their committees.
Once Club business
is wrapped up,
the audience is introduced
to the day's speaker. The
Club attracts high caliber
speakers from all walks of
life including
civic leaders, members of
our military, business leaders,
noted authors and celebrities.
A full list of upcoming speakers
is available through the
Club's calendar.
The day's meeting concludes
promptly at 8:30 am.
This is downtown,
so parking can be scarce.
However, by special arrangement,

members and their guests
