Sergeant at Arms Paul Marsh again brought forth the marble bag, which today contained about 30 clear marbles and one purple one. Mel Gallegos and Mike Whitehurst’s designated marble picker, Pete McGuire, unfortunately chose clear marbles. So next week the pot will grow to an even larger sum.

He plans to be an architect. UCSB has offered him a large scholarship, and Principal Dalal is working to see if Cal Poly, Pomona, which has the architecture program William would like to attend, will match this offer.
Foundation Chair Mike Whitehurst recognized Melissa Chapman’s many contributions to the club by making her a Paul Harris fellow. Melissa was last year’s board secretary and donated use of her lovely home for the holiday party. Leah Swearingen announced that Melissa is generously allowing the Foundation for Women to use her home for their fundraiser on May 8. Melissa also announced that she and Wyatt are expecting their first child. Mike then, with the help of some magic and slight of hand, proclaimed Dan and Tana Cleaves to be Paul Harris Fellows plus one. Finally, Mike awarded Dave McKee his Paul Harris Fellow plus four pin.
Club Assembly: President Mel Gallegos told about the strategic planning meeting that resulted in a Five-Year Strategic Plan for the Club, including a clarification of the club’s vision and plans for how to achieve our goals. Mel promised to send the power point presentation to members in email form so each member will have the opportunity to study the plan and provide input on priorities and strategies.
