Nobody drew the purple marble. Paul Marsh assures us that it is in there, but everybody knows those chiropractors do tricky things with their hands. Anyhow, all remaining funds are to be awarded during the Demotion Ceremony. More about that later.
Pete McGuire introduced a goodly number of guests from the community, but the note taker was distracted and did not get their names written down. You get what you pay for.
Tanya Reid and Chris Jacobs were awarded their Paul Harris Fellowships. Congratulations.
Karny Stefan has a new nephew. Also, she will be named one of the Women who Move the World at the Women’s Leadership Conference.
International Exchange student Wadri may have a new job at Vanderbilt and Maureen Eberle says we all need to keep our fingers crossed.

Dave Ferguson announced that the final placque honoring Ron Erbetta has been completed and an installation is upcoming.
Joe Ciokin made a military update. The Ronald Reagan and four other ships leave today on a major deployment.
Steve Waterman shared his experiences in Mexico helping plan that nation’s response to the swine flu outbreak.
Karny Stefan introduced our speaker, Ted Owen, a Rotarian and former publisher of the San Diego Business Journal, is now president and CEO of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. He reminded us that fear is False Evidence Appearing Real, and that this was not really a time for people in business to panic and stop their efforts to grow and prosper. He shared data on the continued year to year growth in the local economy and provided plenty of examples of how the news media seem to shout out every problem, and bury the good news deep in the story. He also shared tips for networking, encouraging us to weave networks of business support as we attend meetings and make contacts.
