Claire Remillard eloquently passed off her invocation to Mel Gallegos, who mentioned how fortunate we are to live in such a great country where we have the freedom to invite people from all across the World, and share in our Wednesday morning Breakfast Rotary Club. This was a great segue for Maureen Eberle to introduce us to her two ambassadorial guest scholars…
Lucy Kilea and Dave McKee both celebrated their birthdays today!
-
Maureen Eberle introduced us to, Makita and Tavaslu, aka: “The Divas from Africa”
-
Sandy Rugg introduced us to Bonnie Wasserman who works with Administaff, and received some great PR in my opinion!
-
Pauline Lim introduced us to Aaron, who is a 4th Generation Rotarian, and although he has not been involved in a Rotary Club, he has already received a Paul Harris Fellow! I think Aaron needs to “take it easy” for all of us still wearing our Red Badges…
-
Tanya Reid introduced us again to John, “For the 5th time” she added.
-
Barry Kohn introduced us to Dave McCullough who is a landscape architect here in San Diego.
Chief of Police, William Landsdowne, graced us all with his sense of humor, and an overview of some of the great accomplishments that our Honorable Police Officers are doing throughout our city. I could go on for several pages, but one point in particular that caught everyone’s attention, was that the overall Crime Rate is down 16% throughout our entire city! Wow… He credited this to all of the Police Officers who have been working hard with school districts to keep kids in school, and ultimately helping to keep families together.
When Chief Landsdowne finished speaking, as customary, he took a brief picture with President Karen Green. When finished, he reminded her to: “Make sure you hang that picture right up next to your rear-view mirror as you drive”… This concluded the morning, and of course sent everyone into laughter!
