THIS WEEK’S MEETING

This weeks meeting was brought to order by Maureen Eberle. We then proceeded with the pledge of allegiance and followed by the day’s invocation.

VISITING ROTARIANS

Pete McGuire introduced our numerous guests today which included District Governor Bob Watson. Thanks for joining us today

SGT. AT ARMS

Larry Nuffer raffled off opportunities for three individuals to win half of the kitty in the American Idol contest. American Idol seems to be the hot water cooler topic this week

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Joe Marshall reminds us of the silent auction fundraiser this Saturday night. It will be a formal affair. He encourages us all to attend who can.
  2. Bob Watson our district governor reminds us of the district conference coming up. Prices for attending are; $50 for Rotarians, $25 for spouses, and $15 for children.
  3. Bob Watson inducts his daughter Tracy. He is overwhelmed with the opportunity to have this honor of inducting his own daughter. What a special occasion.
  4. Tijuana building project update by Rick. He presents pictures of the project phases with our fellow Rotarians hard at work.
  5. Martin Blair reminds us of the Rotaract fundraiser in the Gaslamp. June 1st at the Bitter End, proceeds go to charity.
  6. June 10 is a Tijuana field trip.
  7. Guest Soleil from Holland. She is spending some time in the US doing research for free. She is originally from Afghanistan.


THIS WEEK'S SPEAKER

Debra Lynhold spoke on the Foundation for Women. Her emphasis was on a program sponsored by the foundation for women called microcredit. Microcredit helps people who are financial enslaved to obtain the opportunity to better themselves and give them financial independence. Microcredit has helped people and especially women throughout the world, ie. Niger, Zambia, S.Africa, and India.
