THIS WEEKS PROGRAM

Nancy Vaughan introduced Sergeant Richard Schnell and Officer John Leining of the San Diego Police Department. They are two members of HOT, the Homeless Outreach Team. Sergeant Schnell told us about HOT, which is a collaborative effort funded by the County and City of San Diego to provide long term solutions for chronically homeless individuals plagued with mental illness, substance abuse or unemployment. The program is supervised by the San Diego Police Department and includes the services of San Diego County Health and Human Services personnel and psychiatric clinicians from PERT Inc. The HOT partnership works to connect the voluntary participant with an appropriate program or placement that will end the cycle of homelessness.

Next Week’s Speaker will be Ples Felix of the Tariq Khamisa Foundation. Have a great week.
