The meeting was called to order by President Jensen. Our club found a
new low in choral singing, with a weak version of Anchor's Aweigh.
Sadly, in "Rotary Idol", we wil NOT be going on to the next level.
A near record number of visitors were introduced, including no fewer
than three members of Club 33. No wonder Lucy Kilea chose today to
announce her transfer to our membership.
Sergeant At Arms Rosalie held a re-drawing from last weeks lottery. The
winner actually had remembered to bring the ticket. Members celebrated
birthdays, anniversaries and the purchase of radio stations in Texas. What a varied group we are!
Assistant Governor Carl Lower congratulated us on our Paul
Harris participation, and encouraged members to attend the Foundation
Seminar on September 16. We were reminded to remember the Paul Harris Gala on Friday September 8th.

There will be a red badge meeting on Thursday, September 14, at Altitude, atop the Marriot Hotel.
-
Next week's meeting will be at the Aerospace Museum. All are to assemble
at 7 AM.
October 7th is the next date for Tijuana Homebuilding. Please sign up.
-
The Vietnam Veteran's Village will have a ribbon cutting Friday September 8th.
Nancy Vaughn introduced our speaker, Vice Admiral Terence Etnyre, the
Commander of Naval Surface Forces. His range of oversight includes all
USN surface ships IN THE WORLD, excluding carriers and submarines. Admiral Etnyer gave us a brisk and detailed presentation, outlining the
challenges faced by our Navy in a globalized confict with a variety of
non-state enemies. Our adversary is unknown and uncertain, he told us,
in the global war on terror, and he detailed steps being taken for our
defense in the global war on terror. He shared the current development
of the Littoral Combat ship, a reconfigurable vehicle designed to meet a
variety of mission challenges.
