This Week's Bulletin Was Written By Jenny K Goodman

THIS WEEK’S MEETING

President Jensen promptly called the meeting to order (no "slack" time for those of us who get to the meeting right at 7:30 a.m.).  Father Joe provided us with the invocation this morning.  Bobbi Spinner-Flack lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Linda Jalving got us singing a rousing version of the Grand Ole Flag.

SGT. AT ARMS

Frank DeFrancisco filled in for Rosalie Kramm this morning.  Lots of fine activity and contributions this morning.  Dave McKee won the SDSU tickets.  The table drive (to sponsor military golfers) netted $762.00.  Frank imposed a group fine for anyone not wearing their Rotary pin.  Maureen Eberle reported on her recent trip to Puerto Vallarta.  Lynn Hamilton bragged about her son as did Dave Ferguson.  Mike Whitehurst won the 50/50 and also celebrated his birthday.  Ron Erbetta celebrated his 31st wedding anniversary.  Mary Engles reminded us that this month was Physical Therapy month.

GUESTS

Lots of guest today including three new prospective members.  Traveling the furthest was a representative of the Bali club.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Bobbi Spinner-Flack presented Father Joe with a Community Service award for his work with the St. Vincent DePaul Centers.
  • Maureen Eberle reminded us that the deadline to purchase raffle tickets for the Paul Harris Gala is today.

NEW MEMBER INDUCTION

Gidget InductionWe pleased to welcome new member Gidget Rangel who joins us from the Rotaract group where she is a past-president.  Gidget is a Vice-President at Union Bank and has a wide variety of interests and accomplishments.  We know from her involvement in Rotaract she will be an active and important contributor to our club.

THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM

Dr. Moises Baron joins us today to talks about COMPASS Family at USD, a center for families with special needs.  Dr. Baron related a very personal story about learning that is son is autistic and some of the challenges that brings.  The demands of children with special needs exacts a financial and emotional toll on the family.  The Center offers a variety of services to give these families a sense of community.  The Center offers a one-stop shop for services.  The Center offers professional training, advocacy programs and research.  The Center has served close to eighty families since opening last year.  Dr. Baron's goal is to get more people involved and spread the word about the resources available to families with special needs children.
