This year's theme for our annual fundraiser., May 10th, at the newly reopened Children's Museum is "Imagine..seeing the world through the eyes of a child" A special web-page is up at www.sdrotary.org/imagine. Our excellent organizers Karen Green, Bobbi Spinner-Flack and Melissa Blackburn encourage all of us to check it out for donation forms and costume ideas. Invitations are on the way.

George Mullen and Melissa Blackburn introduced the morning's speaker: James Frances Mulvaney Sr. AKA "Mr San Diego." Mr Mulvaney, a member of Club 33 and father of our member of the same name, graduated from Loyola University, served in the Korean War and Naval Reserves, married, obtained a law degree and practiced law in Chicago before coming to San Diego in 1956. Mr. Mulvaney was instrumental in bringing major league baseball to San Diego and in 1973 founded the Mulvaney, Kahan and Berry law firm. Jim has served on the boards of many philantropic associations including the United Way from local to international levels, the Old Globe rebuilding committee, the St. Vincent de Paul building committee, Lead San Diego and Combo. He also served as president of Rotary Club 33 in San Diego and in 1991 ws named Mr. San Diego for his many civic and philanthrophic contributions to our city. All this in addition to raising a daughter and six sons! Whew! Mr. Mulvaney entertained us with some history of the Padres baseball team, Jack Murphy (now Qualcomm) stadium and
a bit on the 5th century St Patrick himself. Did you know that the American Ireland Fund donated a large sum 50/50 to the Catholic and Protestant citizens of Ireland with the caveat of "get your act together!"? So that was the real reason for peace in Ireland! Begosh & begorra!! Thanks for being with us James Frances Mulvaney Sr. ' Mr. San Diego!
