Karny Stefan introduced Jeff Olsen, Chief of Assessement Services at the City of San Diego. Jeff gave us key information about the real estate market from his perspective. Specifically, Notices of Default, the first step in the foreclosure process, are down the past two months and the Price Income Ratio or “affordability index” is at 5:6% which signals that we are at or near the bottom of the market. He predicts a “leveling out” of the market and then a “U-shape recovery”..going up “gang busters” (there was a silent hurrah among the several real estate agents in the room).
Jeff touched on key facets of the tax code which are of great benefit to property owners in San Diego which are fully explained in the brochures he left behind or can be obtained by calling his office: 619-236-3771.
The meeting was adjourned promptly at 8:30 a.m.
