Press release to announce our District Rotary Clubs’ fundraising and humanitarian achievement. A total of 36 Rotary Clubs in our District, including ours, raised a total of $50,000. This was matched by the Caster Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and another Rotary District in Canada, for a grand total of $600,000 used to fund a new microcredit and microfinance program in a village in Ghana, operated by Opportunity International. We are proud to be a part of this continuing effort to fight and reduce poverty via microfinance. This program now has over 3,000 participant borrowers, positively impacting over 20,000 women and children, and still growing.
