THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM

Jerrilynn Malano introduced Ann Campbell, head of development and marketing for the San Diego Opera (SDO). Ann (director Ian Campbell's wife) has been with SDO for over 25 years, and, being an opera singer herself, brings an understanding of the art into the business aspects of the company. SDO is rated as one of the top 10 opera companies in the world, and hires the worlds greatest singers - international stars who perform in a variety of venues around the world including La Scala, and the New York Met. The singers are booked 4-5 years in advance. The opera company must also hire a conductor, director, set designers, orchestra (80 plus), stage hands, cast, chorus, artistic teams, and provide wardrobes, sets, and theatre rentals. This is no small feat. Subsidies are shrinking, and the SDO is inviting patrons to renew their commitment to this "Grand and Magical Art". In addition to staging beautiful operas, SDO provides music education to over 100,000 kids in the San Diego area, and has a scenic design studio which builds sets for the opera and many other productions in San Diego.
Ann was a delightful speaker, and as a special thank you for inviting her to our club, she has set up a special exclusively for our club:

San Diego Opera, Friday, April 24 at 8:00 p.m., "Peter Grimes"

Orchestra seats that normally cost $170 are only $99, but we must purchase them by Wednesday, November 26. Please email susan@atworkstaffing.com if you'd like to attend and how many seats you wish.
