Week's Bulletin Was Written
By Jenny K. Goodman
Our meeting was started very promptly and was well under way when I came in so I missed the initial opening ritual. We saluted the flag and got right down to business.
Scott Carr facilitated the collection of fines for brags and other member announcements. Mary Engles reminded everyone that it was Physical Therapy Month. Jeff Hogue is back from Italy where he ran into a group of district governors. Mary Dawe looked forward to her daughter's upcoming wedding at which she will be the officiant. Gary Green called out our speaker for wearing two different socks. Marti Hess celebrated her birthday. Jonathon Stone celebrated his wedding anniversary. Amanda Hyunh was fined for her trip to Vietnam where she survived a category 2 hurricane. Jonathon Stone was also recognized for rapelling down a building to benefit Kids Integrated Together. Karny Stefan had the successful raffle ticket (she got double tix for being here early) but did not pull out the winning marble. Amanda Hyunh was also unsuccessful so the pot grows larger.
Many guests today including our student of the month, Brandon.
Foundation Gala will be November 7th. See District website for more information.

Melissa Trew announced a Red Badge Event. See her for more information.
Judy Bambace introduced Brandon, our student of the month from San Diego High. Brandon does a lot of volunteer work despite his heavy academic load and exemplifies the type of person the club loves to support.
Sandee Rugg introduced Bonnie Wasserman as a new member. Bonnie is the mother of three. She is an avid gardener and provides a container garden service. She has a service oriented heart which makes her a perfect fit for our club. Welcome Bonnie!!
Joe Cioken introduced Jim Kidrick, pilot handle "SLUG", who is the CEO of the Air and Space Museum. Joe and Jim have been long time friends. Jim talked about the large inventory of 110 plus vintage aircraft at the museum and the efforts he has made to update the experience and make it relevant in our region which has such a long history of aerospace history. The building alone is worth the visit and is the most attended museum in the park. He had to address the static growth of the museum and the aging volunteer force. They receive no institutional funding but he has worked to increase their budget to focus on interactive experiences to intice returning visitors with rotating exhibits. Working hard to increase educational experiences as well. Wants to help encourage academic and careers in math, science and engineering. Everyone is encouraged to come visit them in the park or at the Gillespie field site.
