THIS WEEK’S SPEAKER
Colette introduced our Speaker, Etta
McQueary, a health and nutrition educator. Etta has received many awards for her career as a health
educator with the County of San Diego.
She has a master’s degree in public health and social work. Etta shared the moving story of her
physical, mental and spiritual journey back to health after a crushing head-on
motorcycle accident in January 1999.
She had multiple serious injuries and found herself in a wheelchair
unable to
do simple tasks after a life full of physical activity. She viewed this crisis as a new beginning to her life. Just as and even more important than the hard work of physical rehabilitation, has been her positive focus on laughter, love, and simplicity and beauty of living in the present. She asked, if a crisis happened to you today, would you be prepared to handle it? Etta emphasizes the importance of striving for optimum physical and mental health. Her rules for health are:
Ø Heart connection - follow your passion.
Ø Energy foods - unprocessed and natural.
Ø Action attitude - combine positive attitude with action
Ø Love - prioritize the love of family and friend in life.
Ø Time is now
Ø Happiness state - live every day to the fullest.
Etta offers classes in fitness including “fit and fabulous at fifty.” She will measure her students’ body fat to muscle ratio. She is available as a motivational speaker to companies and groups. Her website address is www.ettamcq.com and her e-mail address is etta@ettamcq.com.
