Announcements
President Gary Green made the following announcements:
Ø Please
arrive earlier as we have had an increase in members and guests in order to be
able to start the meeting promptly.
Ø The
February District Council Meeting held at the Escondido Performing Arts Center
allowed our club to be recognized for $27,000 contribution to Polio
Eradication. Steve Brown was given
a Rotary Humanitarian Award for his work with the Somali Women's Sewing
Project.
Ø The
February social event is a Soccers v. Philadelphia Kicks game Thursday,
February 13, 2003, at the Sports Arena.
Tickets $10.00.
Ø The
girl visiting from South America has found a home due to the generosity of Jane
Berry.
Ø The
Spring Fundraiser Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Koll Center, 501 W.
Broadway, 19th Floor, today February 12th. Linda Fox, Shepherd, Mullin offices. The Fundraiser dinner/dance auction
will be May 3, 2003.
Ø Valentine's
Candy collections were augmented by a generous jewelry gift from Ben Bridge.
The Uptown Rotary is having a fundraiser Saturday, February 15th at the Recital Hall, Balboa Park - 619-466-8615.
Dental Clinic - Tijuana dates for future reference: May 2-3; August 1-2; November 7-8.
RI Convention IN Brisbane, Australia
Life Adventure Travel by Robert Weaver and Jannell Beech
gave us information about travel opportunities in conjunction with attending
the Rotary International Conference this year in Australia. Accommodations are still available
outside Brisbane, 45 minutes by train.
June is good weather and the agency can arrange side trips to Tasmania, Fiji,
New Zealand, etc. For further
information, attend the 1-hour lecture on February 15, 2003, at 4:20 p.m. at
the Pacific Beach Library, Cass Street.

Kevin Useldinger, President, Fitness Motivation Institute of California; emphasized that in his work as a Health and Fitness Consultant for corporations, sports teams, the PGA, and NASA, he understands people's excuses for not exercising such as time and convenience constraints but says that his regimens can take as little as 10-20 minutes per day. We learned about the body's need for rest, fuel and activity, about the benefits of exercise over diets, the value of strength training balanced with flexibility, stretching, and cardiovascular exercise, increased water consumption and all things in moderation.
