THIS WEEK’S MEETING

So how many Rotarians does it take to jump-start a car?

In this weeks meeting we found out it takes four Rotarians to help a Rotarian in need to jump their car. Why does it take 4? Because we all need to lend a hand especially when a good Samaritan can’t locate his battery in his finely engineered German car. No names will be mentioned to protect the innocent.

The Speaker

The Speaker was Michael Slatoff sharing with us The Dolphin Youth Connection. The DYC is a brand new non-profit, which targets kids at risk and throws them to the dolphins. Well before they throw them to the dolphins, and they are nice Sea World well behaved and well trained dolphins. The kids get an amazing opportunity to develop a skill set that they would not have otherwise. Often times these kids lack the simple comforts of a separate bed or a quiet place to study.  The dolphins offer a peak experience for these at risk kids to reference for the rest of their lives.  Not only do they get to swim with dolphins; they get mentored, they learn art, they learn movement as well as goal and communication skill development. The Dolphin Youth Connection is complete packages to help at risk kids get a fighting chance for success. The program consists of a 3 day retreat at Sea World and 3 months of mentoring.
