this week’s meeting

This week’s gathering of fellow Rotarians was attended by the usual suspects, but noticeably less than the usual. Despite the attendance, and on the heels of the prior night’s State of the Union address, the group fired up a sense of nationalism with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner, led by James Francis Mulvaney. Larry Nuffer led the meeting a fine invocation. Visiting Rotary Club members; Jere With and Bella Heule.

Speaker Jay Sherwood Montgomery

THIS WEEK’S SPEAKER

San Diego’s Lyric Opera’s, Jay Sherwood Montgomery, A.K.A. Jack, led us in a with several uplifting lyrics from the Viagra product advertisements. Soon to traverse the subject to Children in Art.  He spoke of young talent experiencing the arts live, rather than electronically and its affect on the young and old.  He spoke of comparisons between Minor league baseball and the big leagues. We all need the support of our minors.

Jack also went on to tell us about the planned 800 seat facility in North Park that will undergo extensive rehabilitation. The facility is on 29th & University and will have a 40o space car park across the street.

Opening mid 2005, the North Park Theatre will host live musical theatre, offer office space to other nonprofit organizations,  and provide a sanctuary for school programs while at her new footprint in San Diego.

The final message from our fine speaker and his present associate, Kartsin Jimery, was “Keep the song singing in San Diego.”
