Fearless leader Frank welcomed the group with a resounding GOOD MORNING! Mel Gallegos conducted The Pledge of Allegiance, Duane Horning gave the invocation and the team of Jim Mulvaney, Linda Jalving and Lou Scanlon led us in When Irish Eyes are Smiling. Pete McGuire introduced a number of guests and visiting Rotarians.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ø Ron Erbetta briefed us on the upcoming President Elect Training Seminar, the District Conference mtg April 23rd – 25th at Barona Valley Casino and the District Assembly on Saturday, March 27th. Ron and Frank encouraged people to sign-up via the website.
Ø Ron reminded us to collect mini soaps and shampoos from hotels when we travel. We can give these items to Joe Ciokon for the homeless vets.

Frank reminded us there is a fund raising
meeting on Thursday, March 11th at 5:30 at the offices of Mulvaney
Kahan located at 401 West

Ø Maureen Eberle thanked and encouraged everyone to donate a gift of some sort, possibly a gift certificate, for the silent auction at the annual fund raiser. She also asked that those who are donating things such as a kayak tour should package the idea in a visually appealing way for display during the auction The person who bring the most donations will receive a $50 gift certificate to a Cohn restaurant. Maureen has taken herself out of the running for the prize. She thanked everyone who has helped and encouraged more volunteers to assist with follow-up calls and thank you notes.
Ø Nancy Vaughan reported on the Humane Society Telethon and asked for volunteers for the April 17th “Rebuilding Together” project. This year’s project is to refurbish the mobile home of a disabled gentleman who lives on about $9,000/year.

Sig Weitzman announced two opportunities to
participate in the upcoming MS Walk. The Legoland Night Walk will be held on

Ø The Rotaract Professional Development Chair expressed his Club’s appreciation of our support and asked for speakers for their Club meetings.
Ø Carol Jensen introduced, Charde Houston, our San Diego High School Student of the Month and Andy Diaz, SDHS Athletic Director. Carol told us about Charde’s numerous academic and social interests. Andy told us about Charde’s fabulous athletic accomplishments on the basketball court including having been chosen as one of the top ten female basketball players in the country. Charde has accepted a scholarship to UCONN where she will play basketball and study Criminal Justice and Communications.
Ø Not to be outshone by stellar athletic performance, Frankie de, Lynn Hamilton and Lesa Chang awarded the stellar athletic abilities of our own Club members at the 1st Annual Frankie D Bowling Tournament. And the awards went to….

Pat Cowett introduced our speaker, Eric Bowlby, Canyons
Campaign Coordinator for the Sierra Club. Eric spoke about the grassroots
efforts going on in a number of communities to clean-up and preserve our
canyons. The project started when a group of residents along a canyon in
