Today’s meeting was consumed by the 4-Way Speech Contest.  Gary Green first led us in the pledge, followed by an invocation from Frank, himself, and a somewhat spontaneous outbreak of, “Take Me Out To The Ballgame!”

Announcements

Ø      Next week (April 14th) we will meet offsite at St. Vincent de Paul at 1501 Imperial Avenue, San Diego.  Father Joe Carroll and Jim Mulvaney will host a tour of the facility. 

Ø      This month’s Board meeting will be at Frank’s office on April 12th.

Ø      The next District Council Meeting is on April 13th at the La Jolla Marriott.  The Club covers the cost for this meeting.

Ø      Our next Club service project is “Rebuilding Together” on April 17th.  Those who will be attending have already signed up.  For questions call Dave Dawson. 

Ø      The District Conference will be at Barona Casino April 23-25.  The Club will reimburse members half the cost.  Club members may register online at the District web site.  

Ø      Jose Hernandez reminded us that Career Services Day is April 28th, in lieu of our regular Club meeting.  Contact Jose for alternative locations. 

Ø      Our annual fundraiser is May 1st, at the Hall of Champions, featuring the theme of “All-Star San Diego.”  We are invited to wear sports or athletic uniforms or other attire to celebrate the theme.  Please RSVP or direct questions to Tim Montague.

CHECK Presentations

Today we made formal presentations of checks for $5,000 to the Senior Community Center and $12,500 to the Deafness Research Foundation.  Accepting for the Senior  Community Center was Paul Downey and for the Deafness Research Institute was Executive Director Susan Greco, both pictured here.

As usual at this time of year, we hosted the Regionals for the 4-Way Speech Contest.  Pictured here are the four exceptional speakers.
