this week’s meeting

President Ron Erbetta, with new
banner and Rotary dress shirt and tie!

Since the proper priorities should be “God Before Country,” Ron has switched our meeting order to have the Invocation first followed by the pledge.  Mel Gallegos started us off with a moment of silence for the needs of our community, followed by Dave McKee leading us in the pledge.  We all then joined Linda and Jim in singing, “You’re a Grand Ole Flag.”  Pete McGuire introduced all of our guests and visiting Rotarians.

Announcements

Ø      Chris Blin is back from Africa and he will be speaking as one of our programs soon.  Among many other things he learned while setting up a computer center for a hospital in Nigeria was how to host a goat BBQ!

Ø      Taskmaster Ron will be cracking the whip on anyone who signs up for an event and does not show.  You will pay the price (of the event) if you commit this offense.  Ron mercifully granted amnesty for all past infractions.  Also, any member who uses our membership list for unsolicited advertising will be summarily excommunicated (or was that executed?).  A word to the wise should be sufficient…..

Ø      Ron continued his rein of terror by increasing our quarterly dues by $5.  Rotary International has increased the dues owing from the Club so we are just passing this on to the members.

Ø      Sept 9th5:30-8:30 p.m. - District Council, La Jolla Marriott - Guest Speaker: Carl Wilhelm Stenhammar, RI President Elect 2005-2006 – Put This On You Calendar!

Ø      Sept 18th 7 a.m.-Noon – Salk Institute – The Rotary Foundation Seminar.  This is a great event to attend in order to find out all the incredible works that RI undertakes with donations to the RI Foundation.

SGT. GILLIGAN

Pete McGuire celebrated a 25th wedding anniversary and Sig Weitzman celebrated his 45th wedding anniversary!  Bill Poirier (no longer immune) got hit up for wearing a shirt with marijuana leaves all over it.  V. Anisimow hit a $5,000 jackpot.  And Ken Tablang celebrated a birthday.
