Ron called the crowd to order and brought up Gary Green who recited the long version of the Serenity Prayer as our invocation. Cynthia Sener led the pledge, and Jim Mulvaney flew solo today in leading us in, You’re a Grand Ole Flag. We burst into announcements before the usual introductions of guests and visiting Rotarians.

Nancy Vaughn introduced Dr. Neil Treister,
MD, the Medical Director of the
Ø Cardiac Risk Factors – Blood pressure, cholesterol levels, smoking, alcohol abuse, etc.
Ø Diet & Nutrition – Omega-3 fatty acids, naturally occurring antioxidants in brightly colored fruits and vegetables, low glycemic loads, healthy weight
Ø Fitness – 40-50 minutes of walking or other aerobic activity 5-days per week, light weight training, stretching
Ø Stress Management – Pulse-Breath Exercise, identify key stressors and work to decrease their influence
Ø Complementary Care – Yoga, t’ai-chi, qigong, calcium supplements, folic acid, B-complex
Ø Spirituality and Mental health – spend time with caring communities, religion, friendships, pets, write daily journal
