this week’s meeting
President Ron Erbetta called the meeting to order at 7:34
a.m. Jerrilyn Malana gave an inspiration
with a theme of "pay it forward" and "pass it on," which
inspired us to do good deeds with the expectation that the recipients will then
pass the good on to others. President
Ron remembered how his father had followed this practice and when the money he
gave to someone who needed it was later passed on to three needy families. Mary Engles led the pledge of allegiance and
then we sang the theme song to "Gilligan's
Pete McGuire introduced non-Rotarian guests of Bill
Poirier, Frank De Francesco and Maureen Eberle, four Rotaract members, and
Rotarian guests from Club 33, and

Frank De Francesco reported on the Foundation
Seminar that took place Saturday, September 18 at the Salk Institute. He also explained that up to $500 is
available as matching funds for each member in our club to become a Paul Harris
fellow this year. Matching funds are
also available for present Paul Harris fellows to become sustaining members for
the year.

Gary Green reported on the up-coming golf
tournament set for Friday, November 19 at Coronado Golf Course. There will be a dinner and auction in
addition to the tournament, So even
non-golfers can participate. We would
like to have up to 36 foursomes.
Sponsorships are available, auction items needed.
Ø
Bill Poirier, representing Youth Services,
reminded the group that we may volunteer on Monday afternoons for the Police
Athletic League youth activity. Charger
rookies will participate. Email Bill if
you would like to be there.

Martin Blair reported that last year the Rotaract
Club built three houses in
Ø
Evan Patel offered Entertainment Books for
$40. Twenty percent goes to Rotaract.
Ø
Martin auctioned off two San Diego Padre tickets. Tom Sayer was the lucky purchaser.
Ø
Jay Sener announced a Membership Committee
meeting after the general meeting and said the Membership Committee is looking
for new members.

Lynn Hamilton reminded everyone of the
performance of "Jersey Boys" on October 14. Email her if you want to join the party.

Nancy Vaughan announced that Tim Seamens had tee
shirts to sell, but did not tell us about the shirts last week. She offered "Road to
sgt.-at-arms

Mike
Gilligan ran the NFL lotto. Dan Fissori
won with the Bears. Watch for next
week's winner - Frank De Francesco for the Redskins, Ken Tablang for
Ø
Vickie Bourus was the lucky winner in an auction
for Symphony tickets.
This Week’s Speaker
Nancy Vaughan introduced speaker Bill Ashman from the La
Mesa Rotary Club, who has recently returned from a group study project in
Ron adjourned the meeting at 8:35 a.m.
