THIS WEEK’S MEETING

Gary Green filled in for our illustrious President Ron, and called the meeting to order to hear his brags about how young he looks compared to his high school classmates.  Caroline Chen offered a poem about "Today" and our U.K. Liaison Michael Clarkson (visiting San Diego for a few weeks) led us in the pledge.  Gary asked for and received "hush money" from several club members, who paid up to keep Gary from reading the 6 page "Centennial Minute" that he threatened us with.  This reporter, for one, would have called his bluff.

Announcements

Ø      The golf tournament committee has sold 11 hole sponsorships and next week will announce the celebrities joining in the fun.  The tournament is to benefit the Deafness Awareness Center and our local USO.  Golfers are needed and the cost is $175/person.  See Gary Green, Tony Eppert, Carol Jenson, or another tournament committee member for details.

Ø      Gary announced a "Night of Magic" fundraiser for DOCS, the group of doctors doing charitable facial surgery.  See Gary if you are interested in details.

Ø      The Paul Harris committee will assist you in getting matching funds that will count toward you Paul Harris Fellowship.  See Frank De Francesco for details.

Ø      Tomorrow night is Jersey Boys.  Meet at 6:30 pm at Mandell Weiss Forum for a pre-curtain mixer.

Ø      Mary Dawe announced that we will be serving seniors lunch at the Senior Community Center on Saturday, November 6.  Mary has a signup sheet.

Ø      Rick Logan needs more volunteers for TJ Homebuilding set for 10/30/04.

Ø      Michael Clarkson has "a friend" who is opening a new business selling cheese in Nazareth.  I'll spare you the punch line.

Sgt.-At-Arms

Sgt. Mike fined Jim Mulvaney for the great picture of his wife (and Jim) in the society pages for the Grossmont Hospital fundraiser.  Jennifer Grebing won the football pool with the Rams, and Scott Carr collected for her.  The contestants this week are Mitra Mujica (Green Bay), Sandra Rugg (Kansas City) and Jerrilyn Malana (Seattle).  Jane Barry paid to top Gary’s reunion story and Michael Clarkson paid to tell his cheese in Nazareth joke.

Speakers

Our speakers chided us to "sit up straight" and told us that attention to posture and carriage will improve our golf games as well as making us better people, more astute voters, and more likely to receive Nobel Prizes.  Jeremy Klinkhamer and Greg Knuth have a business analyzing golf swings, and Jeremy is a licensed Physical Therapist.  They will be present at our golf tournament offering free consultations.  In their brochure they ask "Isn't it time that your BODY, your MOST important piece of golf equipment, was CUSTOM FIT?"
