PRESENTATIONS
Ralph and Dione Rubio were recognized as our "Business
of the Quarter" for their incredibly generous donation of time, funding
and expertise to open the Cabo Cafe for Monarch. Many organizations came forward to help
Monarch get started, but Ralph and Dione gave much more – they gave the students at Monarch a whole future. He completely funded the venture, allowed the
kids to name it and began the process of letting the kids learn the business.
In addition, when there is a profit, it goes to the school. When there
isn’t, he continues his support.
The kids at the restaurant don’t know that Ralph has many other
restaurants and 3000 employees. They think
that he is just their boss, mentor and friend.
He continues to be hands on –
always involved in current projects such as their new delivery van and
installing new grass shack awnings over the entrance. He also serves on the

GUEST SPEAKERS
The membership watched and listened in awe as speakers from the Robotics Team at the Preuss School of UCSD described their participation in the National Robotics Competition. The “Midnight Mechanics” are 40- 50 students from this high school, 27 of them female, and all of them will be the first generation of college graduates in their families. They are participating in a 6 week national competition to build a robot. Their goal is to promote engineering in the community. Last year their team won the National Engineering Inspiration Award. They have great aspirations for this year’s competition and have asked for our support. Their enthusiasm and scholastic achievements are truly inspiring.
To contribute to the Midnight Mechanics’ Fundraiser
