This Week’s Meeting
Maureen Eberle opened the first meeting of the fiscal new year as well as her first as President. Michael Clarkson read a quote reminding us how blessed we are. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jonathan Stone. And Linda Jalving led us in singing, America the Beautiful.
Presentations
Gary Green presented the
past year’s President Ron Erbetta with the “Rotarian of the
Year” award on behalf of the club.

BOARD AND COMMITTEE CHAIRS Mission StatementS and Goals
President Maureen
Eberle:
Ø Will continue involvement in “Voices for Children,” including donating proceeds from the Golf Tournament as well as making donation to “Voices for Children” in the name of all guests that speak.
Ø Complete Mission Statement and list of Goals was available in handout
President
Elect’s
Ø Carol’s major goal is to learn from and assist Maureen wherever possible
Ø Maureen presented Carol with the “President Elect Pin”
Secretary’s
Ø Goals are to update information for the district website, increase number of members who sign in, as well as complete and keep Board Meeting minutes
Ø Maureen Eberle presented Linda with the “Music Pin”
Treasurer’s
Ø Don’s major goal is to create a budget that the Board will follow
Sergeant at Arms
Mission Statement and Goals by Larry Nuffer:
Ø Larry’s lofty goal was to raise more money then past Sergeant at Arms Mike Gilligan, which was reported to be nearly $7000.
Ø Maureen Eberle presented Larry with “Sergeant at Arms Pin”
Ø Larry auctioned off 4 tickets to Opera at the Summer Pops donated by Ron Erbetta, which raised $140.
Foundation
Ø Maureen Eberle presented Ron with “Foundation Pin”
Ø Ron presented “Circle of Life Awards” to Leah Swearingen and Bob Berry
Ø Presented past Board Members with packages, including:
Ø Larry Nuffer for Public Relations
Ø Duane Horning for the Community Service Committee
Ø Mary Engles for Club Services
Ø Pete McGuire for Club Services
Ø Spoke about awards received by club from the District, including:
Ø The Presidential Citation
Ø The Presidential Citation for Rotaract
Ø Best Club Service

Frank De Francesco -
Foundation Chair:
Ø Spoke about Foundation Meeting on September 10th
Ø Goal is to increase Paul Harris Fellows
Ø Spoke about Foundation Program on October 12th
Club Services
Ø Goal is to have meeting run as smoothly as possible
International
Service
Ø Major goal was to increase number of international projects
Community Services
Ø Increase giving of both money and time
Ø Create a calendar for monthly projects
Vocational Services
Ø Reinstate the “Chair of the Day” during meetings
Ø Also she just received a new position at Discovery Bank which she will be starting next Monday

Ø Would like to have a different member take notes for the Bulletin every week
Fundraiser Committee
Ø Create bigger and better fundraisers
Golf Tournament

Tournament will take place in
Ø Encouraged all to attend and to invite friends, family and co-workers

Membership Committee
Ø Wants to have 5 new members net by year end
Ø Wants every member to bring at least one guest by year end
Military Liaison
Ø Entire club observed a moment of silence for Vice Admiral Stockdale, a decorated P.O.W. and friend of Joe’s
Program Chair
Ø Complete Mission Statement and list of Goals was available in handout
Public Relations Committee
Ø Want to educate members about “Planet Rotary,” which will include pop quizzes
Ø Would like each member to have their bio and business websites to include their membership in Rotary to help promote the club
Rotaract Liaison
Ø Introduced new Rotaract President, Andrea Espinoza
Ø Goal is to repeat their award winning year and build upon it
Social Committee
Ø

Ø Brunch at the House of Blues

Ø Wants to make website the #1 source for information about the club and its members
Ø Asked all to visit site and update their contact information
Youth Services
Committee

Announcements
Maureen Eberle reminded all about:
Ø The Board Quarterly Update Meeting on July 11th
Ø The District Council Meeting July 27th
Ø Membership Seminar July 23rd
Sgt.-At-Arms
Larry Nuffer auctioned off tickets to the SD Symphony Pops concert donated by Ron Erbetta, and then sold bags of tomatoes donated by Frank De Francesco. The entire Club sang “Happy Birthday” to Frank De Francesco.
