Guest speaker

Past Dist. Gov. Mike Stellman introduced Jonathan Majiyagbe, past Rotary International President.  Mr. Majiyagbe is from Nigeria and spoke of being a Rotarian at the end of the 1st 100 years of service and looking to the future.  Rotary means fellowship.  Mixing with people of like minds.  Service above self:  Rotary really comes down to these 3 words.  He also went into the importance of the eradication of polio and how we have to keep pushing through.

Mr. Majiyagbe's ideas of how to be an effective Rotary Club:

Ø      Sustains and increases membership

Ø      Major donors

Ø      Develops itself beyond it's District

Ø      Practice the Rotary Beatitudes:

ü      Change eating seat each meeting.

ü      Provide conversation worth sitting with (said with a smile)

ü      No smoke blowing (again said with a smile)

ü      More than a business interest in Rotary

ü      Friendship beyond the meeting

ü      Know when to end the pitch (smile)
