We were honored to host Casey Castillo, CEO of the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, who shared an inside look at how one of California’s largest food banks is stepping up during critical times.

As the San Diego Food Bank prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, their mission is more vital than ever. San Diego County residents are feeling the squeeze, with local grocery prices soaring by 62% since 2018. To meet this growing challenge, the Food Bank currently serves 400,000 residents in need each month across 90 distribution sites.

What makes their impact so remarkable is their forward-thinking approach. As a data-driven organization, the San Diego Food Bank leverages cutting-edge technology—including AI and GIS mapping—to optimize distribution logistics, eliminate waste, and ensure residents are able to access food in their communities.
