It was a great morning at the Rotary Club of Downtown San Diego as we hosted San Diego City Attorney Heather Ferbert!
City Attorney Ferbert highlighted her office's crucial role as San Diego’s chief legal officer and city prosecutor, focusing on key initiatives impacting our community.

Key initiatives:
- Prosecuting Misdemeanors: Emphasizing accountability, Ferbert advised local business owners to report petty crimes to San Diego Police: "If we can prove it, we will charge it."
- Impact of Prop 36: Ferbert detailed how Prop 36 increases criminal penalties for repeat theft and select hard-drug offenses while opening court-mandated treatment paths, giving city attorneys and judges more pathways to hold petty criminals accountable.
- Effective Diversion Programs: From holding individuals accountable to offering real solutions, she highlighted high-success diversion efforts with low recidivism outcomes, such as the First Buyer of Prostitution Program.
- Taking On Monopoly Violations: San Diego continues to join forces with the California Attorney General, and other cities and counties to challenge corporations that violate antitrust/monopoly laws and fail to act in the public interest.
Thank you, City Attorney Ferbert, for sharing your insights on keeping San Diego safe, fair, and thriving!
